Have you ever been lost?
I have. Funny story now. We were on family vacation in Arizona and decided to go hiking to Devil’s Bridge. An easy 3 mile hike according to the internet. That happens to be KIND OF true if you know where you’re going and what you’re doing. That’s a longer story. Let’s get to the part where I’m lost.
I’m the slowest in the family. My three boys are way ahead just trying to get to the end. Phil, my husband, is in the middle trying to stay between me and the boys. I’m last. There comes a point in the hike you turn into trees. I look up and no one is there. To keep this short, let’s just say there were moments of slight panic, frustration, exhaustion, worry, then, finally, relief and gratitude.
For a brief moment in the middle of it I let my mind spin. What if I’m the headline?
Mom of 3, loving wife, gets lost in the woods. Rescue teams searched for days…
The three boys at the top of hike. Notice I’m not in the picture.
This funny family story is a great place to reflect on life. How many times is it easy to get lost in the woods. To let the mind spin. To let emotions rule and logic to take a back seat?
To forget truth.
Do you notice when this is happening to you?
Can you see it as an invitation to step back, breathe and remember what is TRUE.
GOD HAS A BETTER PLAN. Trust and follow.
ISAIAH 55:8-12 CEB
My plans aren’t your plans,
nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD.
Just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my plans than your plans.
Just as the rain and the snow come down from the sky
and don’t return there without watering the earth,
making it conceive and yield plants
and providing seed to the sower and food to the eater,
so is my word that comes from my mouth;
it does not return to me empty.
Instead, it does what I want,
and accomplishes what I intend.
Yes, you will go out with celebration,
and you will be brought back in peace.
Even the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you;
all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
In place of the thorn the cypress will grow;
in place of the nettle the myrtle will grow.
This will attest to the LORD’s stature,
an enduring reminder that won’t be removed.
Dear friend,
If you’ve ever been lost or felt lost, you’re not alone. I’ve been there too. If you’re deep in the trees right now, give yourself space to remember the bigger plan. Need space to breathe? Check out the free class on YouTube. And please, play to the end, like and subscribe.
